Jun 1, 2006 - Many new updates!
We have recently updated and enhanced a number of things. To list a few, we have been working with Qwest to increase our bandwidth to the specified speeds, and after working with Kevin, the lead DSL support tech in the area, we have been able to increase our connection to approx 6.5M/900K overall, from the 5M/700K. For you, this means higher speeds when downloading files onto your sites and servers hosted with us, and a more robust connection for viewers to your site. We are still working on configuring our new Cisco router with our upstream provider, as that has been an ongoing challenge with IP negotiations upon connection.

We have also recently implemented our new website layout, and will be adding more and more content to it as it is available.

Due to recent storms in the area, we have had two brief power outages. One on May 25th, which our backup systems were able to handle, and one on May 29th, which was approx 90 minutes in duration while Excel was replacing equipment. This second outage depleted our backup system and we were offline for approx 30 minutes. If this becomes a trend in the upcoming months, we will look at adding an onsite backup generator with an automatic cutover for power outages.

We are also in the process of configuring a new server to handle E-mail (auth_smtp for users not on the local network who wish to use Outlook, Mail.app, etc) as well as the ability to process credit card orders via a secure server.

Our final hot item on the news is the planning of a local Hot-Spot to customers in the immediate vicinity of our office. This will provide a wireless connection, for a low scheduled fee to customers who do not use the Internet enough to warrant the cost of Cable/DSL, but still require a faster-than-dialup connection for their needs. Look for more news on this over the summer.
